All it takes is a few good days with sunshine and a little warm up and I’m ready. Yes, I believe spring has sprung, officially. I see buds on trees and hear the sounds of birds gathering supplies to make their nests. It is simply music to my ears. More importantly, this is one of my favorite times of year to shoot outdoors.
There is something about the newness of life, the flowers beginning to bloom and the sound of my camera clicking that makes this time so special. I’ve been scouting locations and creating Pinterest boards to help with wardrobe ideas. Can you tell I’m excited? ?
I wanted to share a few thoughts with regards to planning for a spring photo shoot. I believe it’s important to have updated images of our loved ones and have them displayed in our homes. So let’s jump on in.
This is one of the most important aspects of planning your Spring Photo Shoot. Do you go with a beautiful park location? An amazing view of the city? Or forget nature and go grungy with an alley look. My personal favorite this time of year is a park setting.
Lincoln Park another awesome park in the city that is also versatile. What I really like about Lincoln Park is that the beach with a city view is just a quick 8 min walk away. The famed honeycomb amphitheater is there too along with a lot of great nature options. There is also a bridge with a view of the city behind you. You can accomplish a ton in this beautiful park.
There are a host of other options in the city including numerous side streets, Tom Ping Park and so many other options.
At the end of the day, when we meet and you share your thoughts for what you desire in a location, we go to work to present the best location to make it all happen.
One of the big factors in making a spring shoot happen is picking the best day and time. I love the fact that days are getting longer and longer which extends the amount of daylight available to shoot. We typically have session times available in the afternoon as well as most weekends (although weekends definitely fill up fastest). The greater question is when will you be able to get your hair done (or cut for the fellas) and makeup. We’ll talk more about that later, but it’s important to consider everything that you’ll need.
This is always a dilemma and can involve some serious thought. I absolutely love colors in spring. It is a great time to rock some bold colors or pastels. In group images, it’s best to coordinate with all participants to ensure a sold looking image. This doesn’t mean everyone has to wear the same thing, however, there should be some level of coordination. We don’t leave you to fend for yourself. We will create Pinterest mood boards that provide inspiration. We also love a few boutiques such as Kiwi’s Boutique in the city and Havana in downtown Naperville. We also love it when families bring accessories such as hats and sunglasses. It can add a little fun to the shoot.
Great question. It’s really simple, you can start the process by clicking this link here and we will get you going. The first step of our process is to have a consultation to gain an understanding of what would be ideal for you. We also take the time to show you the beautiful products that we offer that you will be able to showcase in your home. From there, we solidify a date and start thinking about the wardrobe (as mentioned, we can help with Pinterest mood boards to get you going). After that, it’s time to shoot.
After the shoot, we plan an in-person viewing session to review your images and determine which products work best for you.
So let’s get out and enjoy this amazing weather, enjoy a little music while we shoot and have some fun. We can’t wait to work with you.
